NORTH SALEM – Russell C. Wynkoop, 88, of North Salem died Friday night in Hendricks County Hospital at Danville. He had been in failing health for two months. Mr. Wynkoop had owned and operated Wynie’s Market at North Salem from 1925 to 1963. He was a member of the North Salem Christian Church, North Salem Masonic Lodge and the Kurtz Booker Post 217, American Legion. He attended schools in Boone County and was a veteran of World War I. Born July 5, 1887, in Boone County, he was a son of Charles and Ida Adams Wynkoop. He was married to Goldie Starks in 1908. She is deceased. Surviving are a son, William D. of North Salem; a daughter-in-law, Margaret of North Salem; and step-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Porter Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Davis officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 o’clock this evening. – jlr
